Pacific Ocean - Chilean Sea
The Chilean Sea was defined on 30th May 1974 when the Diario oficial de la Republica de Chile published declared that "the waters surrounding or touching the shores of the national territory shall be known as Mar Chileno.
The Chilean Seas are famous for their Chilean Sea Bass - a fish also known as 'Toothfish'. However, it is not always caught in the Chilean Sea. It differs from the US Bass because iof its white meal appeal.
Chilean sea bass usually fetches premium prices in specialty markets and high-end restaurants. It is a deep-water fish that can live up to 50 years and grow to weigh over 200 pounds.
It has become an endangered species and unless people stop eating Chilean Sea Bass - it will become extinct.
